The School of Communication and Media offers highly motivated students the opportunity to be mentored by media professionals. Most mentors are Montclair State alums who are excelling in their field---whether it's Television & Digital Media, Film, Public Relations or Journalism. As a chosen student for this program, i had the opportunity to be mentored my Shakeema Edwards, a copy editor of New York Magazine. Below, is a news packaged produced by Montclair NewsLab that discuses my views and experiance on finding my place in the media landscape.

Whether students enter college with a clear career path in mind or are committed to weighing their possibilities, mentors can help them find and develop their interests and innermost passions. As a senior in my final year of college, I was chosen by a board of professors who not only valued my work ethic but my skill set. I embarked on a journey of self-discovery and uncertainty. This journey gave me a front-row seat to a competitive industry of eager individuals determined to provide the best quality in journalism and communications. This professional development allowed me to gain perspective and confidence in the newsroom and behind the camera.
